European Union Common Security and Defense Policy Missions and Identity-Building: Case of EUFOR Althea.
What are the communication goals of the EU regarding CSDP? Are they consistent on different levels? Are these goals reflected in the actual communication of the EU? If not, what other messages are communicated? How effective is EU communication towards CSDP, after all? Is it efficient in terms of the time and money spent on it?
Hypothesis: Inconsistency in CSDP communication limits the ability of the missions as an identity-building tool.
This project provides a comprehensive approach towards EU communication and suggests the model to assess the effectiveness of it. While focused primarily on the common, security and defence policy, this model can be applied to different levels of EU communication, and, after adjusting, to other cases of political communication. The methodology of this project in the future will contribute to the development of EU studies and can potentially influence European politics. Conducting this research will also help to complete his Master’s thesis and advance in his career as an international journalist.
