Research Question

In October 2015, South Africa blatantly disregarded the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir. This open challenge to the ICC’s authority caused widespread debate over the effectiveness of the ICC and its continued place in public international law.

Conclusions/Outcomes

The internship will give Demic the opportunity to work first hand at the ICC for UW alumna Haydee Dijkstal and assess the importance of providing the international community a venue for attaining justice following Human Rights and Humanitarian Law violations through peaceful means.
