How does the Oxlajuj E run various aspects of their operations including, but not limited to, costs of production, marketing efforts, and product transportation? This research plan also includes the analysis of the amaranth market.

Significance

Gaining insight into the operations of a local co-op and how it impacts its producers and consumers, as well as learning useful information about a lesser-known agricultural product, and its market.

Methods Used

Semi-structured interviews with the co-ops producers, individuals involved in the operations of the co-op, and others who have knowledge of the amaranth and other agriculture industries, participant-observation and budget analysis.

Conclusions/Outcomes

I hope to participate in the operations of the co-op, learn beneficial co-operative practices, determine the needs of the operation, and find new beneficial practices that could aid operations further.
