Robotics is becoming more visible in education as an avenue of introduction into engineering, programming and technical applications. First LEGO League (FLL) robotic competitions have been one aspect of this introduction. While there have been studies pertaining to the participation of the FLL program, little is known about the effects of the prior experiences of the coaches. This study aims to assess a coaches experiences and how they may affect the teams. Using interviews and a survey, this study indicates there is evidence that a coach’s prior experience with coaching and not content areas does influence the team’s outcomes.
