Pathways to seeking formal/outside help for domestic violence victims of South Asian origin
This study will help explore some of the cultural factors that may be most salient in understanding domestic violence and formal/outside help-seeking behaviors of victims of domestic violence in South Asian communities. The process will also illuminate the processes/pathways used by abused South Asian women to seek formal/outside sources of help. It may provide information to explain ways to encourage help-seeking, especially formal help-seeking and therefore, improve access to interventions available in the community for battered South Asian women. In this study, the researcher will collect data from local (in Laramie) and domestic violence shelters in Houston and Denver.
