In this article we provide an overview of emotion regulation (EI), summarize key research discoveries, provide a brief history of EI, and define ER and emotion in Part II. Then, in Part III, we describe the brain structure and the neurological underpinnings of ER. Finally, in Part IV we conclude by discussing ER, and introducing empirically-supported strategies for ER.
